It's so surprising to me how fast the years fly by now that I am a middle aged adult. Remember when we were kids and the years seemed to crawl along? I can remember days seemed to take forever leading up to Christmas.
I am shocked that Thanksgiving and Christmas have already passed by and we are heading into a new year. What will 2024 bring?
On New Years Eve, I like to take time to reflect on the past year, to remember and set in my memories forever the events that helped shape me and my family over the year.
For 2023, the word I have for our family is "growth." Growth for new passions, new adventures and new experiences that I hope we all hold in our hearts forever.
Dane, Savannah and Ruby became junior authors in 2023. This was a huge accomplishment and hoping it'll be something they can build on in years to come. Having dyslexia right now is hard. They each struggle with reading daily and sometimes this can be so frustrating for them. There are many tears in our home over reading.
However, we also have many laughs of joy! This year the kids developed new passions. Dane became interested in magic and 3D printing.
Savannah learned to do an official tea ceremony and has an official certificate to serve her own tea at Yellow Mountain Teahouse.
Ruby learned how to make soap at a soap making class.
We all learned some new crafts, making things to sell alongside their books at holiday craft fairs this winter.
We learned about love and kindness and the sorrow of saying goodbye to a friend. The kids be-friended a very special lady in her 90s and had to say goodbye to Mary in November of this year, which was very sad but also so sweet. Friends come in all ages and we learned to cherish and love people every day as you never know when your time with them will end.
Lastly, we learned that hard work and perseverance pays off in life. We work through hard things and never give up!
As you are "letting go" of 2023, I hope your hearts are full of warm memories and you go into 2024 with a joyous and grateful heart.
