Fun Activities to Help Kids with Dyslexia
Activities Recommended by Dane and Savannah (two awesome kiddos with dyslexia)
Activity One: AUDIO BOOKS
LISTEN to AUDIO Books. While they are listening, have them track with the text. This is a great way to build comprehension and practice tracking text and recognizing words.

Kids with dyslexia love learning and this can help build a passion for books.
Activity Three: Where's Waldo or other visual puzzles
Visual processing is so important for kids with dyslexia. These activities can help them learn to identify and sound out letters better, track text better and help sharpen their overall processing skills.

Ideas include:
Where's Waldo Books
Hidden Pictures
Puzzles
Step by Step Drawing
Card games like Blink and SkipBo
Activity Five: Reading with your child or Echo Reading
Just reading with your child is an amazing activity to do on a regular basis. They get to listen to the words and this builds on comprehension. Stop and ask questions along the book to see how much they are comprehending.

You can also practice echo reading where you read a sentence and then they repeat the same sentence. It helps to build their confidence with reading.
Activity Two: DRAWING BOOKS
My kids love art and drawing. I think it is the creative side they are so good at. Have your child "draw" books and read them to you. This is a great way to have them enjoy the process of reading where they feel successful.
Activity Four:
Word Ladder Books
Timothy Rasinki made some awesome books called Word Ladders. These help boost vocabulary, reading, spelling and phonics skills. They have different level books based on grade and my kids have really enjoyed them.
